Adrian Clarke was born in Northampton and studied at the Royal College of Music and the London Opera Centre. His roles include the Dark Fiddler (A Village Romeo and Juliet), Baron Douphoul (La Traviata), Le Dancaïre (Carmen), the Librarian (Sophie’s Choice), the One-eyed Man (Die Frau ohne Schatten), John Shears (Paul Bunyan), Sid (La Fanciulla del West), Donald (Billy Budd), Samiel (Der Freischütz), Starveling (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), the Traveller (Death in Venice), the Music Master (Ariadne auf Naxos), Mr. Gedge (Albert Herring), Haudy (Die Soldaten), four roles in Martinů's Julietta, Don Ferdinand (The Duenna), Zuvetli (One Touch of Venus), Jones (Der Kuhhandel), Father (The Seven Deadly Sins), Podesta (The Thieving Magpie), Kalif (Der Barbier von Bagdad), Gazella (Lucrezia Borgia) at opera houses like the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the Royal Opera House, La Fenice, Salzburg Provincial Theatre, Scottish Opera, De Nederlandse Opera, Opera North, the Ruhrtriennale and the Buxton Festival. At the Bregenz Festival Adrian Clarke has already appeared as Kostandis (The Greek Passion), Afron (The Golden Cockerel), Sciarrone (Tosca), Jack Spot (Playing Away) and Alcindoro (La Bohème).
