Tenor Arnold Rawls has displayed his convincing combination of vocal skills and acting abilities in a great many performances on the concert and opera stage. In the spring of this year he stepped in for an indisposed Marcelo Alvarez in Act Two of Il trovatore at the Metropolitan Opera and his performance as Manrico was judged a great success. He will shortly be heard in the same role with Opera Australia. Last season he made his debut as Otello at the Opera Company of Philadelphia and sang Calaf (Turandot) at Lyric Opera in Kansas City as well as Foresto (Attila) and Apollo (Daphne) at Frankfurt Opera and Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Seattle Opera. His extensive repertoire includes the roles of Radames (Aida), Canio (Il pagliacci), Cavaradossi (Tosca) and Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera). He has sung at Indianapolis Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Omaha Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Vancouver Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera. Also, the tenor regularly performs as a concert singer, appearing with orchestras such as the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Madison Symphony, the Washington Chorus in the Kennedy Center and the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen in the Cologne Philharmonic. Arnold Rawls is already known to Bregenz audiences from the lake stage productions of Il trovatore and Aida.
