Héctor Sandoval received his training at the National Conservatory in Mexico and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Among his teachers were Ileana Cotrubas, Luigi Alva, Plácido Domingo, Walter Berry and Francisco Araiza. His first performances were given at the State Opera in Mexico City and in the USA before his international career took off in Europe, too. He has given guest performances as Alfredo at Salzburg State Theatre and in Bielefeld, as Edgardo at Halle Opera, as Riccardo at the State Theatre in Darmstadt, as Duca in Wiesbaden, as Rudolfo at the Vienna Volksoper and as Cardona in Dona Francisquita at Washington National Opera under the baton of Plácido Domingo. He can be heard on several CDs, among them a complete recording of Il barbiere di siviglia, I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Il Matrimonio Segreto. Concert commitments have led him to Alte Opera Frankfurt, the Philharmonie Essen and the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp. Highlights of recent seasons have been engagements as Cavaradossi at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, as Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera) at Frankfurt Opera and the State Theatre in Darmstadt, and as Duca (Rigoletto) in Innsbruck and at Komische Oper Berlin. He sang a Zarzuela concert at the Festival Theatre in Baden-Baden, Pinkerton (Madame Butterfly) as well as a gala concert with Edita Gruberova at Cologne Opera. In Riga he has given guest appearances in the title role of Werther and he has sung Radames at Stuttgart State Opera. Héctor Sandoval has already sung the part of André Chénier at the State Theatre in Innsbruck.
