Nareh Arghamanyan

In her early twenties the Armenian pianist Nareh Arghamanyan – winner of the Montreal International Musical Competition (2008) – is already one of the most promising pianists of her generation. Highlights of the 2010/11 season include her concert with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra at the Bregenz Festival, the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montreal conducted by Keri Lynn, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra under conductor James Gaffigan and the Utah Symphony Orchestra under Christian Arming. She has given piano recitals at the Mozartiade Augsburg, in Bad Kissingen, Vienna and as part of the Portland International Piano Series. On the invitation of Mitsuko Uchida she played at the prestigious Marlboro Festival in 2009 and will return there in 2011. Nareh Arghamanyan has appeared at a number of international festivals, among them the Tanglewood Festival, Le Domaine Forget in Québec, the Festival Lanaudière and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival. The label Analekta recently released a CD with her recordings of sonatas by Sergei Rakhmaninov and Franz Liszt. Nareh Arghamanyan was born in Armenia in 1989 and received her first piano lesson at the age of five. In 2004 she became a student of Heinz Medjimorec at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Currently she is working in Hanover with Arie Vardi.
