Nicholas Collon

Nicholas Collon is establishing a reputation as an inspirational interpreter in an exceptionally wide range of music. He was awarded the 2008 Arts Foundation Fellowship for conducting and was the 2011 classical music nominee in the Times Breakthrough Awards. As founder and artistic director of Aurora Orchestra, Nicholas Collon has already appeared at the BBC Proms, Kings Place, the City of London Festival and the Snape Proms. In the field of opera he has most recently conducted The Knight Crew, a new work by Julian Phillips, at Glyndebourne and Elena Langer's The Lion’s Face for The Opera Group in the UK including the festivals in Brighton and Cheltenham as well as Linbury Theatre (Royal Opera House). For Mahogany Opera he has he Sir William Walton's The Bear, Stravinsky's Renard, The Magic Flute and La Bohème in Ramallah and Bethlehem. In the near future he will work with the London Sinfonietta, Britten Sinfonia, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Manchester Camerata and Sinfonia Viva. He is continuing his concert series "Moves" at LSO St. Luke’s and will record a CD with works by Nico Muhly for Decca. For The Opera Group he will conduct Seven Angels, a new work by Luke Bedford. Next season he will make his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Mozart Players and the Northern Sinfonia.
