Peter Bronder studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the National Opera Studio, before receiving his first engagements at Glyndebourne and Welsh National Opera. In the United Kingdom the tenor has sung at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, English National Opera, Opera North and Scottish Opera. Notable engagements in his career so far have been as Herod in Salome (Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Real, Teatro Regio), the title roles in Der Zwerg and Palestrina in Frankfurt, Loge in Das Rheingold (Edinburgh Festival, Stuttgart) in addition to performances at the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, the Théâtre de la Monnaie, Nederlandse Opera, Komische Oper, the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville and Vlaamse Opera. As a concert soloist Peter Bronder has already collaborated with the leading orchestras in London, Cleveland, Boston and Pittsburgh, as well as such highly regarded conductors as Christoph von Dohnanyi, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Sir Charles Mackerras and Rafael Fruebeck de Brugos. He has been involved in numerous radio broadcasts and in CD recordings for Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Philips, Teldec and Chandos. Among forthcoming engagements are Mime in Der Ring des Nibelungen under Daniel Barenboim at La Scala and Berlin State Opera, Palestrina at Zurich Opera, as well as concert performances of Wagner’s Das Liebesverbot in Frankfurt and Mime in Siegfried conducted by Kent Nagano in Bergen.
