The soprano Romana Beutel graduated from her soloist studies under Uta Schwabe at the Konservatorium Wien university with distinction. She supplemented her studies with masterclasses with Angelika Kirchschlager, Barbara Bonney and Marjana Lipovšek, among others. Romana Beutel has won prizes at several competitions: Prima La Musica, the Fidelio Competition (where she has been prizewinner twice) and she was finalist in the Klassik Mania competition. Among the roles she has sung are Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Despina (Così fan tutte) at the Vienna Odeon Theatre, and Poppea (Agrippina), the Bird (Blond Eckbert) and Polly (The Beggar’s opera) at Vienna Kammeroper. In the 2009/10 season she was a fixed member of the ensemble at the Staatsoperette in Dresden, where she appeared as Peppi (Wiener Blut), the Sandman and the Dewman (Hänsel und Gretel) and Hannchen (Der Vetter aus Dingsda). She has performed in concert throughout Austria as well as in Germany, Sweden, Venezuela, Greece and Romania. In the current season Romana Beutel has also sung at Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp and at the Operadagen festival in Rotterdam.
